The two factions of APC in Alimosho Local Government held parallel LGA congresses as they could not agree on consensus.

The Orelope-Adefulirẹ and Aregbesola factions, which had been battling for the soul of the large local government, gathered at the Ikotun Secretariat, venue of the congress, where each simultaneously conducted parallel congress.

Trying to outdo each other in the supremacy game, each of the factions presented a picture of being the only one on ground and gave the umpires a tough time deciding what to do.

The Aregbesola group, led by Ẹnilọlobọ, which had been calling the shot in the area for a long time, tried to bank on its old glory but failed as majority of the people who have been fed up with its style and modus, pitched tents with the Orelope-Adefulirẹ faction which promised them positive change.

The two groups slugged it out at the congress as both presented different candidates for all the 27 offices of the party. At the end of the day, two chairmen emerged;

Akinwale Onaolapo (from Orelope-Adefulirẹ camp) and Akin Fatoki (representing Aregbesola camp).

The congress, however, came to an abrupt end when security men (police and Civil Defence officers) brought in to maintain law and order started shooting sporadically, thus causing people to scamper for safety.
